Ryo Saegusa, Dr.Eng., is a Professor, organizing the Human Machine Symbiosis Laboratory in the Department of Information systems, the Faculty of Information Technology, Kanagawa Institute of Technology.
He also dedicates his efforts to Tenryu Welfare Association as a Councilor, Japan Women's University as a adjunct lecturer, the Care Robot Project of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare as a Project Coordinator, the Research Institute for Science and Engineering, Waseda University as an Invited Researcher, and the Kanagawa IT Utilization Promotion Committee as a Chairperson.
In past, he worked in the role of a Research Associate in the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Waseda University, Japan, a Senior Postdoc Researcher of the Department of Robotics, Brain and Cognitive Sciences of Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, Italy, a Project Associate Professor of the Center for Human-Robot Symbiosis Research, Toyohashi University of Technology, Japan, and an Associate Professor of the Faculty of Creative Engineering, Kanagawa Institute of Technology, Japan.
His research interest is in the human-machine symbiotic relation and its evolution. He is currently working on the topics about care and medical robotics, human-machine interface for body extension, machine learning and cognitive development systems, and sensory-motor integration with informatics on human sensitivity. He commercialized the care and medical concierge robot through the industry-academia-government collaboration in 2019.
